The “city of angels” has become one of the largest hubs in the nation for stray, abandoned and feral felines. An estimated one to three million homeless cats live in Los Angeles. Recognizing this problem, Karn Myers and her late husband, Mark Dodge, founded FixNation – a non-profit that supports Trap-Neuter-Return programs for homeless cats. The organization has been providing a compassionate alternative to mass euthanasia for over a decade.

“This year’s cat shelters were extraordinarily creative, and the designers put a great deal of time and thought into how cats would actually interact with the shelters,” says Myers. “They are truly works of art with a practical application.”

The shelters, which were donated to FixNation by the architects, were displayed at a cocktail reception attended by the community, media and public figures.
